SimonMed
I worked with SimonMed to capture their cutting-edge facility for their upcoming marketing campaigns.
We shot over two days on the weekend while the facility was closed, which gave us uninterrupted access to each of the rooms. I wanted to keep the lighting simple so I could move quickly and keep things more spontaneous. I would normally reach for strobes, but they wouldn't give me the color control I needed to blend with the existing room light. Instead, I chose to use LED lights — specifically the Aputure Storm 1200X — bouncing them off the walls and ceiling. Even when the walls weren't a perfect neutral, I could dial in the color temperature precisely to make the bounced light exactly right. I'm really happy with how clean the lighting turned out.
On a side note, the MRI room was the most challenging — you can't have any metal inside, which ruled out bringing in lights or even my usual camera setup. I had to shoot from the doorway with a longer lens to keep my distance. Luckily, the ambient light in that room was much easier to work with.
