It's all about megapixel

I’ve been running the Phase One P65+ through some tests to see how it improves over the P45. The first and most obvious is it’s 60 megapixel vs. 39 megapixel for the p45. The 60 megapixel translates into a 173 MB (8-bit) TIFF file. That’s up from the 112 MB file the P45 produced.

When shooting products it’s important to be able to pull out all the fine details of the material used to construct the product. The example below of the MacBook Pro shows how well the detail holds up in the metal and the shift key. The added megapixel will contribute to sharper images and the ability to crop and still retain a large file size. Looks like I’ll have to step up my dusting of the product before shooting, everything shows.

The perfect way to display these images on the Web in full resolution would be Seadragon: http://seadragon.com

The level of detail is absolutely mind-boggling. The future of digital photography is a bright one.

Ditto on the seadragon comment. That’s the most amazing thing I’ve eve seen -and it’s owned by Microsoft!

Absolutely crazy resolution. I would like to see a picture of a crowd in a stadium from across the field with this camera.

It’s ridiculous. How sensitive is it to noise?

I felt the same way when i first started using the P45+ I can imagine how much detail the P65+ is picking up.

Chris I mostly shoot at 50 iso so noise isn’t a problem.
